Whitehaven power cut: More than 630 properties still without electricity

More than 630 properties remain without power after an underground cable fault.

The outage affecting Whitehaven, in Cumbria, was first reported at 20:39 GMT on Tuesday.

Electricity North West (ENW) said it was working to repair the "high voltage cable" supplying homes and businesses.

A spokesperson said: "An underground cable fault caused 1,910 properties in Whitehaven to lose power" on Tuesday evening. Power has since been restored to more than 1,200 of them.

The company apologised to those still without power and said engineers were working to restore it "as quickly and safely as possible" by 18:00 GMT.
