Plans for Exeter community wellbeing hub unveiled

Exeter City Council (ECC) has unveiled transformation plans for a new community wellbeing hub in Wonford.

Proposals for the hub, in place of the existing sports centre, will be going on display.

Councillor Duncan Wood, lead councillor for leisure and physical activity, said the hub would "encourage wider participation in social, wellbeing and physical activities".

A planning application is due to be submitted later this spring.

The city council said Wonford is the "most deprived ward" in Exeter and has some of the highest areas of physical inactivity and poorest health outcomes.

Mr Wood said the city council had been working "very closely" with the community on the plans.

"There is still a long way to go and we still need to secure the necessary funding which will make these plans a reality," he said.

Mr Wood has encouraged the community to view plans and latest designs ahead of the planning application submission.
