Cyclist injured in car crash dies in hospital

A cyclist who was left in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Wakefield has died in hospital, police said.

The 66-year-old man was struck by an Omoda 5 SUV as he rode along the A636 Denby Dale Road, near to its junction with Thornes Road, at about 22:05 BST on Wednesday.

He died on Thursday, West Yorkshire Police confirmed. A 48-year-old woman who was driving the Omoda has been interviewed under caution and released under investigation.

Police have renewed their appeal for anyone with information or footage to get in touch.
