City market set to move after 30 years
AFP via Getty ImagesA city's weekly market is set to move location after 30 years following news a new provider was found for it.
The market in Worcester had been set up in Angel Place, but it will relocate to Corn Market from September, taking place on Thursdays and Saturdays.
A new operator, Bluebell Events, will run the market between 09:00 and 16:00 BST, after Cotswold Markets decided to stop providing it.
"We are committed to giving Worcester a high-quality weekly market that supports the city's enterprise and creates a true destination for visitors," Bluebell Events' Chloe Ford said.
Worcester City Council said the new market would sell a range of goods and produce, much as it did in Angel Place.
"Markets are an important part of the city's offer, helping to attract shoppers and visitors," councillor Lynn Denham said.
The market in Angel Place had been a "valued part of the city centre" for more than 30 years, she added, and hoped it would "continue to thrive".
