Two teenagers have been arrested and charged after the attempted murder of a man in Paisley.

Emergency services were called to the scene after a disturbance broke out on George Street at about 20:00 on Monday.

A 53-year-old man was taken to hospital where his condition has been described as serious but stable.

An 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

They are due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court later.

Following the disturbance, police closed a number of roads in the area, including George Street at Barr Place, Lady Lane at Argyle Street and Castle Street at Argyle Street. They reopened on Tuesday evening.

Police Scotland said inquiries were ongoing.
