Attempted murder arrest after double stabbing

Police were called to Highweek Street in Newton Abbot at 00:10 BST on Monday

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two people were stabbed.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to a property on Highweek Street in Newton Abbot at about 00:10 BST after receiving reports of an altercation involving a group of people.

The force said a man and a woman sustained serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and two cordons have been set up in the town as investigations continue. Police have asked anyone with information to contact detectives.
