A series of public information events are being held over proposals for an electricity link from Scotland to Lincolnshire.

National Grid has invited communities in East Lindsey to review and comment on its latest plans for a subsea and underground link, known as the Eastern Green Link 5 project.

The proposals involve a 585km (363.5 mile) subsea cable from Scotland to Anderby Creek, where it will go underground for 8km (4.9 mile) to a converter station at a location yet to be decided north-east of Bilsby.

National Grid said the project would help strengthen the local network in Lincolnshire and provide enough electricity to power about two million homes and businesses.

The company received community feedback on the project in 2025, which it said helped shape and update the proposals.

Stephen Mathers, project director for National Grid, said: "Following feedback from our initial consultation in 2025, we have refined our plans and are now sharing more detailed proposals for where new infrastructure could be built, and we look forward to hearing from local communities on these updates."

National Grid said the consultation was part of the Great Grid Upgrade programme and was the biggest overhaul of the UK electricity network in generations.

The company said the project would make better use of renewable, homegrown electricity, including power generated in UK waters and would help to reduce reliance on imported energy.

In-person public information events are at the following locations:

Saturday 6 June: Alford Corn Exchange, 11:00 - 16:00 BST

Thursday 11 June: Anderby Village Hall, 14:00 - 1900

Saturday 13 June: Huttoft Village Hall, 11:00 - 16:00

Thursday 18 June: Huttoft Village Hall, 14:00 - 19:00

There is also a virtual consultation event that people can access via the National Grid website. The consultation runs until 24 July.
