Council exploring options to reverse development
BBCA council in Surrey has said it is exploring its legal options to prevent an unauthorised development progressing after two stop notices were seemingly ignored.
Waverley Borough Council said its officers visited the site in Alfold on Thursday and Friday, with temporary stop notices issued both times. But on Tuesday, it said further works were carried out over the weekend.
"The council is pursuing all appropriate legal options to secure the reversal of any unauthorised development, and to prevent any further planning breaches," the council said.
When approached by the BBC, people on the site declined to comment and said that they were not doing anything wrong.
On Tuesday, Waverley Borough Council said that officers had visited the site again and additional background work was ongoing to "establish a full understanding" of the situation.
The council said that it was not aware, prior to Thursday evening, that the land would be used in this way and added that it continued to monitor the situation as a priority.
Surrey Police said it was aware of reports of a large number of vehicles and people on a site in Loxwood Road, Alfold.
However, the force added that as it was a planning permission issue, the council were the lead agency.
