A man has been injured in an armed robbery at a post office in a Worcestershire village.

Three men wearing balaclavas entered the premises on Worcester Road in Wychbold at about 09:40 BST, threatened the victim with a knife and demanded access to the safe, West Mercia Police said.

The group left the scene with cash from the safe, the force added.

The victim sustained injuries to the head and hands, which West Midlands Ambulance Service described as non-serious, adding he was assessed, treated and taken to hospital for further precautionary checks.

Det Sgt Lance Pritchard said the force was carrying out a number of inquiries "following this serious incident" and urged anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time to come forward.

"In particular, we would like to hear from anyone who saw the three men entering or leaving the post office, or anyone who may have dash cam or CCTV footage from Worcester Road [at about 09:40 BST]."

The offenders were described as two black men and one white man.
