A man has been arrested after a clash between Middlesbrough and Millwall football fans.

Cleveland Police said the force was aware of disorder around Middlesbrough train station, following Boro's 2-1 home defeat against the visiting side.

Det Ch Supt Anne-Marie Salwey said the man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and taken into custody.

"This involved several opposing supporters fighting," she said. At this stage, we are not aware of any member of the public having sustained any injuries."

She said several officers had been deployed for the fixture and a "full post‑match investigation" would take place.

The force is appealing for anyone with information on the disorder to contact them.
