Park awash with colour as rainbow run returns

A country park was awash with colour as hundreds of runners took part in a rainbow-themed fun run.

The annual Rainbow Run returned to Ferry Meadows in Peterborough on Sunday and attracted more than 300 people, organisers said.

The charity Deafblind UK, which organised the event, said it raised more than £10,000 for the organisation.

"There was excitement, dancing, and laughter from start to finish and we even enjoyed a real rainbow in the skies above," said Robert Grew from the charity.

Runners had a choice of a 3km (1.9 mile) or 5km (3.1 mile) course, where they passed through bursting clouds of bright powder paint.

Several other charities were involved in this year's event, including the city's food bank.

Ferry Meadows is home to several running events, including a weekly Parkrun.

Last month, it was also the first stop in the East of England for endurance athlete Esmee Gummer as part of a 5,000km (3,106 mile) running challenge.
