Extra funding for care leavers approved by council
LDRSCare leavers in Nottingham will receive extra financial support after the city council approved a £300,000 scheme.
The Care Leaver Grant Fund will "provide practical financial support and opportunities for care-experienced young people as they make the transition into adulthood", Nottingham City Council said.
It will run over a two-year period from 2027 and help care leavers aged 18 to 25, with the authority working with The King's Trust on the project.
The city council said it was "part of a wider package" of more than £20m funded through an underspend in the council's 2025-26 budget.
Linda Woodings, the city council's executive member for children and young people, said: "We know that too many care leavers face additional challenges when it comes to education, employment, housing and financial security.
"This fund is about providing practical support at critical moments, helping young people overcome barriers and make the most of opportunities available to them."
