Composer found with indecent images of children
BBCAn award-winning music composer whose work has featured on the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 has been sentenced after police found more than 1,000 illegal images of children on his computer.
David Poore, of Bristol, previously admitted making indecent images of children and possessing a prohibited image of a child in June 2026.
The 59-year-old won a BAFTA for providing the musical score for David Attenborough's Life in Cold Blood in 2009. He was also nominated for a Royal Television Society award for his work on the BBC's Springwatch.
At Bristol Crown Court, Her Honour Judge Anna Richardson gave Poore, who was originally from Wells in Somerset, an 18-month community order.
Earlier, the court was told Avon and Somerset Police found the images on Poore's computer, including one of a child as young as two.
The force received a referral from Google in September 2021, that a user named David Williams had uploaded an indecent image.
The IP address was discovered to be linked to David Poore Music.
Police visited Poore's home address and seized computer equipment in May 2023.
Poore immediately admitted the images were his and blamed "some underage fantasy thing," the court was told.
Forensic investigators also discovered the use of the search term "pretty pre-teens".
The judge also placed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order of five years on Poore, and ordered him to do 100 hours unpaid work, fined him £500 and ordered him to pay £150 prosecution costs.
Poore's barrister said he had undergone therapy and counselling with the Lucy Faithfull Foundation and had since volunteered with the charity to help others at risk of causing harm.
The judge said Poore's offending had ended his marriage and damaged his relationship with his child.
According to his online biography, Poore has composed music for over 200 films including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, National Geographic and Disney.
