Roads close as rally returns over two days
BEN LAWRENCERoads in the south of the Isle of Man are set to close later as the annual Chris Kelly Rally gets underway.
The event, which is one of two rallies held on closed public roads each year, runs through Friday evening from 17:30 BST and most of the following day. The rally covers 93 miles (150km) over 12 stage routes, with competitors setting on at 30 second intervals.
Although predominantly based at the Grandstand in Douglas – where the event will officially finish – the central hub for mechanics to make repairs and adjustments on Friday will be the Round Table.
These are the road closures to be aware of:
Friday – Leg 1
Remote service area – roads closed 18:30 to 23:00
Roads affected: Round Table Road and Sloc Road
Special Stages 1, 4 & 7 – Port Erin roads closed 17:30 to 23:30
Roads affected: Bridson Street, Orchard Street, Orchard Road, Church Road, Promenade, Station Road, Strand Road, Shore Road, Ballafurt Road, Ballnahowe Road and Sound Road to Cregneash
Special Stages 2, 5 & 8 – The Shore roads closed 17:40 to 23:40
Roads affected from Shore Road: Kentraugh Mill Road, Kentraugh Back Road, Grenea Cottages, Pooilvaaish Road, Ballakaighan Road, Ballakeighan Corner and Castletown Road
Roads affected from Fishers Hill: Cross Welkin Hill and Ballakaighan Road
Special Stages 3, 6 & 9 – Corlea roads closed 18:00 to 00:00
Roads affected: Corlea Road, Kerrowkeil Road, Ballamaddrell Road, Grenaby Road and Ronague Road
Saturday – Leg 2
Special Stages 10, 13 & 16 – Algare roads closed 08:00 to 15:30
Roads affected: Ballamodda Road, West Baldwin Road, Sartfell and Druidale Road
Special Stages 11, 14 & 17 – Ballavoddan roads closed 08:30 to 16:00
Roads affected: Bernahara Road, Andreas Road, Ballacorey Road, Grenaby Road and Nassau Road
Special Stages 12, 15 & 18 – Tholt-y-Will roads closed 09:00 to 16:30
Roads affected: Ny Claddagh, Sulby Glen, Tholt Y Will Road and the track from Sulby Glen
