Burnage priest lands unexpected role in Oasis film

A Burnage priest whose sermon on forgiveness featured in the new Oasis documentary has described the "bizarre" experience of walking the red carpet at its London premiere.

Father Luke Bradbury, from St Bernard's Church, briefly appears in the film Don't Look Back In Anger, which charts the band's 2025 reunion tour after years of acrimony between siblings Liam and Noel Gallagher.

The documentary crew wanted to film at the church close to where the brothers appeared in a nativity play as boys, in a nod to their devout Irish Catholic mother Peggy.

"I was asked if they could film and we had no problem," said Father Bradbury.

He added: "They were filming during Mass and the Gospel that day was about the apostle Peter asking how often should he forgive his brother and Jesus says 'Seventy times seven'.

"I happened to make the connection between this and Noel and Liam and it ended up in the documentary near the end of the film."

The priest thought nothing of it until he received an all-expenses-paid invite to the premiere in Leicester Square in London.

Frenzied fans welcomed the brothers who swaggered into the premiere.

Liam was wearing sunglasses and a trademark navy parka with matching dark blue jeans, while Noel was casually clad with a brown jacket, a blue shirt and jeans.

Whereas Father Bradbury cut an unlikely figure in dog-collar and clerical black suit, leaving fans puzzled.

"I felt pretty out of place and could see people looking at me and wondering: 'What is he doing here?'" the priest said.

However after his appearance, when he is heard to say "forgiveness is hard - it costs us something", he received a lot of attention from Oasis fans.

"It was bizarre people were coming up to me asking for selfies," he said.
