Charge and arrest in Normanton rape inquiry

Police are investigating reports of a rape at a property on Wakefield Road in Normanton

One man has been charged and another arrested as part of an investigation into the rape of a woman in Normanton.

The offence took place at a property on Wakefield Road in the early hours of 1 August and the victim is in her 30s, West Yorkshire Police said.

Michael Connors, 28, of no fixed abode, appeared before magistrates charged with rape on 22 August and will next appear at Leeds Crown Court on 21 September.

A second man, 22, from Bradford, was arrested on suspicion of rape on Thursday and has been remanded in custody, police said.

A force spokesperson said: "Specialist officers continue to support the victim as inquiries continue."
