Police received reports of a teenager being assaulted in Storrs Road

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after a teenager was assaulted in Chesterfield.

Derbyshire Police said it received reports of a teenager being assaulted by another teenager in Storrs Road just before 15:20 BST on Friday.

The force said the teenager was taken to hospital but his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening. No further detail has been shared on his age.

Officers added a 14-year-old boy who was detained remained in police custody.

Chatsworth Road was closed from the junction with Storrs Road to the Morrisons roundabout, the force said, with people asked to avoid the area while investigations continued.

In a statement published on social media Brookfield Community School said it was aware of a "serious incident" involving a student.

It added parents of the student involved had been informed and police were investigating.
