Christmas market at castle will not return
Nottingham City CouncilAn annual Christmas market will not be returning to Nottingham Castle this year, organisers have said.
The ticketed event has taken place in late November every year since the city attraction reopened in 2023.
Last year's market took place over three days and involved more than 90 independent traders.
However, It's In Nottingham, which ran the event, said it had made the decision not to bring it back in 2026 as it was looking to "explore new activities and opportunities".
A spokesperson said: "This is not a decision we have taken lightly, however, we believe our original goal for the market - to help position Nottingham Castle as a versatile and attractive venue for events in Nottingham - has been achieved.
"Nottingham City Council understands our need to explore new activities and opportunities in line with our commitments as a business improvement district.
"We have also worked with the local traders who have contributed to this success.
"As we continue to plan our strategic delivery over the next 12 months, we are working on new opportunities to promote the city centre through investment in similar high-quality events - including our highly successful Ay-Up Market, which will return in 2027."
