Police have launched an investigation following a blaze at a barber shop.

Sussex Police said the fire began in the doorway of the shop in Endwell Road, Bexhill, just before 22:00 BST on Friday.

Two people in the flat above escaped without injury but were checked over by paramedics at the scene, officers said.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said three fire engines attended and "swiftly" put out the flames.

Sussex Police has urged witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.
