Beach patrols with drone to tackle trouble
SupertedExtra police powers are being used to deter anti-social behaviour at a beach.
Cleveland Police has issued a dispersal order for Redcar beach until 18:00 BST on Saturday. It means people can be asked to move from the area covered by the order and not return.
The force said the move was prompted by recent reports of large groups of young people fighting and causing trouble on the beach.
Supt Fraser Wilson said: "You can expect to see officers in the area as well as the police drone overhead to establish what has taken place and to ensure the safety of those on or near to Majuba beach."
The area covered by the order includes Majuba beach from South Gare to Marske-By-the-Sea, Coatham to Corporation Road, Redcar town centre from the beach to Lord Street, the stray and Locke Park.
Dispersal orders are temporary and are generally used by police to deter crime and anti-social behaviour at certain locations.
