The Isle of Wight's chain ferry is out of action for two weeks for its annual refit.

The Floating Bridge, which runs between Cowes and East Cowes on the Isle of Wight, will be out of service until 05:00 BST on 20 May.

Isle of Wight Council said the vessel's guidewheel, hydraulics and lifting eyes were set to have "essential examinations", along with its annual Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) inspection.

A launch for foot passengers and cyclists will run while the ferry is out of service but drivers face an 11-mile round trip via Newport.

The £3.2m ferry has been beset with issues and breakdowns since it went into service in May 2017.
