Man dies and two injured in motorway crash

A man has died and two people have been injured in a motorway crash.

Durham Police said three cars were involved in the collision on the A1(M) southbound between junctions 57 and 58 near Darlington, at about 11:40 BST.

A man in his 60s, who was the driver of a Vauxhall Mokka, was pronounced dead at the scene, the force said.

It added the road remains closed as collision investigators work at the scene.

A police spokesman said the other two casualties were taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the crash to contact them.
