Unauthorised playground leaves council puzzled
Knowsley CouncilAn unauthorised play area has appeared on a field on Merseyside, leaving a local council puzzled.
Knowsley Council in Kirkby has raised safety concerns after playground equipment, including a slide and swings, was installed on council-owned land on Winmoss Drive in Towerhill.
The authority has asked people to avoid using the equipment until "appropriate checks have taken place".
"Whilst the efforts and generosity of those who have provided this equipment is appreciated, the council needs to ensure that such equipment can be used safely, without the risk of harm or serious injury," it said in a Facebook post.
The council urged the people who installed the equipment to get in touch.
A Knowsley Council spokesperson told the BBC: "We appreciate the efforts and generosity of those who have contributed to this initiative, but we need to ensure that the equipment is safe and suitable for levels of use as well as being installed correctly for everyone's safety.
"We are now in contact with the organiser."
