The M27 is shut westbound between Romsey and Ringwood

A section of a motorway has been closed following a crash involving a lorry, National Highways has confirmed.

The M27 is shut westbound between J2 Ower Interchange in Romsey and the A338 Ashley Heath Interchange near Ringwood.

A tree has been removed to support the recovery of the vehicle. National Highways reported the tree has fallen on the road and will need to be removed before reopening the section of the M27.

It added that the closure is likely to remain in place for several hours and a diversion is in place, marked with a hollow square symbol on local road signs.

Traffic wishing to join the A31 westbound from the M27 J1 Cadnam Interchange have been advised to join the M27 eastbound, then exit at J2 to join the official diversion route.
