Attempted murder charge after Poundland incident

A man has been charged with attempted murder and other offences after a woman was assaulted in a town shop in Staffordshire.

Luke Mamczur, 24, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, is also accused of intending to commit a sexual offence and possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place.

Officers said they were called to a report of an assault at Poundland on High Street at about 17.30 BST on Friday.

The woman was taken to hospital but was later discharged. Mamczur was due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Monday.
