Akon offered 'free eggs for life' after cafe trip
AIDAN JACKSONMulti-platinum selling artist Akon surprised the owner of a cafe when he nipped in for a bite to eat ahead of his concert.
Staff at Aidan's Kitchen said they were shocked to see the Mr Lonely singer walk into the cafe in Sandyford, Newcastle.
Aidan Jackson, who owns the business, said: "I don't know why but I was really shy to meet him but, listen, after today he can eat here for free for the rest of his life."
The Senegalese-American rapper played the Utilita Arena on Monday evening as part of his European tour with RnB star Ne-Yo.
Jackson, who owns three cafes in Newcastle, was at another venue when he received a call saying the star walked into his Sandyford site to dine.
"I thought my staff were winding me up, to be honest, but then they told me he was playing the arena, I checked online and then I rushed over to meet him."
Akon has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide and has topped the UK Single Chart three times with records Lonely, Smack That and Sexy Chick.
AIDAN JACKSONThe singer, who rose to prominence with the single Locked Up in 2004, ordered "well done steak and fried eggs" which Aidan prepared.
"I'm still a bit shocked by his order, I would have liked to have cooked something a bit nicer but as he can have free well-done steak and eggs for life now."
Jackson added: "We've had Vicky Pattison in from Geordie Shore before but I don't think Vicky would mind me saying that Akon is definitely the biggest star we've had in the cafe.
"It was quite the experience and he's always welcome."
