Security staff at Aberdeen Airport have voted for industrial action in a dispute over pay.

The development comes after summer strikes at two of Scotland's busiest airports - Glasgow and Edinburgh - were averted after new deals were struck.

Paula Buchan, Unite industrial officer, said its ICTS HBS security members had unanimously backed action.

She added: "Imminent talks are scheduled with the employer and we await an improved pay offer to potentially resolve this dispute before strike action."

On Monday nearly 400 workers at Glasgow Airport accepted offers from bosses at ICTS and Menzies Aviation, lifting the threat of strikes during the World Cup and Commonwealth Games.

More than 400 workers employed by Edinburgh Airport have also accepted a two-year pay deal.

Two groups of workers accepted a new pay deal at Aberdeen last week but the latest development means its security staff could still strike.
