Arrest over man missing for three years as police search site for remains

A 41-year-old has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a man more than two years ago.

Ricky Harris was last seen on 18 November 2023 in Maes-Y-Deri, Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Despite an "exhaustive" search, his body has never been found.

On Friday, South Wales Police said a man from Mountain Ash had been arrested on suspicion of preventing a lawful burial and perverting the course of justice in connection with Harris's disappearance.

Officers are searching the Phurnacite plant - a smokeless fuel briquetting facility that covers 150 acres - in Abercwmboi village, which they expect to take "some time".

The force added Harris's family had been made aware of the development.
