Driver suffers vision loss after youths hurl eggs
Merseyside PoliceA driver was struck in the eye and suffered vision loss after she was hit by an egg thrown by a group of "mindless" youths.
The woman is continuing to receive hospital treatment for her injuries after she was struck in the right eye as she drove along Longton Lane in Rainhill, St Helens, on 27 April.
The egg, thrown from a large group of teenagers riding bikes, went through an open window, "causing significant injury resulting in reduced vision," Merseyside Police said.
Police have released CCTV images of a male they said "could assist" with their inquiries.
'Mindless act'
The woman, who said she was in a lot of pain, got a taxi to hospital and her vision was now slowly improving, police added.
Det Insp Ruth Tickle said: "This mindless act by a group of youths may seem harmless to some.
"However, it was dangerous, and this is classed as assault. The victim has still not recovered from being hit in the eye.
"Moreover, she was driving a car at the time so she could have lost control of the vehicle, and a serious collision could have occurred.
"Thankfully this was not the case, and she was able to pull over and get to hospital."
