Telford and Wrekin Council hopes the week will encourage more people to enjoy walking

Ghost walks, a bird walk, a history walk and a yoga walk are all part of a project aimed at encouraging people to get out and explore green areas on foot over the half-term week.

A programme of walks, some of them guided, starts from Monday in Telford, Shropshire, with the aim of showing off the natural beauty and history of the area.

The scheme ends on Sunday 31 May with a Big Walk and celebration in Telford Town Park.

Angela McClements, councillor for leisure at Telford and Wrekin Council, said she hoped it would lead to more people taking up walking once the week was finished.

Telford Walk Week was a "fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy being active, connect with nature and explore the many beautiful places that make our borough so special," she said.

Many of the walks featured can be enjoyed throughout the year and a full list can be found on the Telford and Wrekin Council website.
