Industrial action has been fully suspended at a Warwick school after successful negations between parties, a union has said.

The National Education Union previously confirmed a partial suspension of strike action at Aylesford School but has now called off remaining scheduled walkouts.

A spokesperson for the union said action planned for 16, 18 and 19 June would no longer go ahead due to an agreed resolution action plan with the school.

It included no compulsory redundancies, a plan to reduce staff workloads and a "commitment to recognise" the NEU at the school, the union said.

Members of the union staged a walkout last week claiming they were not meaningfully consulted on a restructure involving multiple redundancies.

Simon O'Hara, assistant branch secretary of Warwickshire NEU said members kept the school afloat during a period of "great turbulence".

He said: "We hope that the employer has finally realised that without their efforts, the future for Aylesford would not look as bright as it now does.

"There is a great deal to build on at the school, and we expect that any future plans for change will be fully and meaningfully consulted on, including extending the curriculum and plans for restoring sixth form provision for the students and community."

When asked for comment on the NEU's decision to call off walkouts, a spokesperson for the school said Aylesford's position was as that recorded in its statement of 2 June, in which it said that following a consultation process, there have been no compulsory redundancies.
