Woman dies and man arrested after collision
GoogleA woman died and a man arrested following a collision in Shropshire.
An Alfa Romeo was involved in a collision with a Mercedes on the A41 near Hinstock, Shropshire, at about 18:00 BST on Friday, West Mercia Police said.
The Alfa Romeo driver, a woman in her 70s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, she later died. Two people travelling in the Mercedes suffered minor injuries and went to hospital as a precaution.
A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and has since been released, the force said.
It said it wanted to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, close to the junction with Hatton Road.
It also said it wanted to hear from people who may have seen the white Mercedes or the red Alfa Romeo in the time leading up to the crash.
