Who are the newly elected MPs for Cambridgeshire?

Labour and the Liberal Democrats now have three MPs each in Cambridgeshire.

Ahead of the election, the picture was very different, with the Conservative Party holding a majority of the county's eight seats.

Here are profiles of the county's new MPs.

Daniel Zeichner has been re-elected as the Labour MP for Cambridge, a position he has held since 2015.

He first moved to Cambridge to study at King’s College. He has served as shadow environment minister and is the chair of the All-Party Group on Universities.

The Cambridge constituency had a turnout of 60%, which was down about 8.70% from 2019.

Charlotte Cane took Ely and East Cambridgeshire for the Liberal Democrats, replacing Conservative Lucy Frazer.

Mrs Cane, who has lived in East Cambridgeshire for three decades, said her first job as an MP would be to work to improve social housing in the constituency.

Ely and East Cambridgeshire had a turnout of 66%, down by about 5.20% from 2019.

Ben Obese-Jecty has kept the Conservative hold on Huntingdon and will fill the seat vacated by Jonathan Djanogly, the former Tory MP.

He is a former Army officer who volunteered for service as a Battle Casualty Replacement in Basra, Iraq. Since leaving the Army, he has worked with US and UK banks.

The Huntingdon constituency had a turnout of 66%, which was down about 8.70% from 2019.

Steve Barclay has been re-elected as the Conservative MP for North East Cambridgeshire, a position he has held since 2010.

He is the former health and social care secretary, has served as a government whip and has been economic secretary to the treasury.

The North East Cambridgeshire constituency had a turnout of 55%, down about 8.20% from 2019.

North East Cambridgeshire result:

Sam Carling, 22, became the youngest MP on Thursday after narrowly winning North West Cambridgeshire.

Mr Carling is a Cambridge University science graduate student and grew up in a rural town in the north-east of England, which he described as "a very deprived area".

He called his victory a "political earthquake", and said he hoped more young people would stand for public office.

The turnout for North West Cambridgeshire was 58.76%.

Labour candidate Andrew Pakes was elected as MP for Peterborough.

Mr Pakes lives in the city and works for a trade union. He campaigned to fix NHS dentistry as a “top priority”.

The turnout at the election was 57.27%.

Liberal Democrat MP Pippa Heylings won South Cambridgeshire from the Conservatives.

Ms Heylings has lived in South Cambridgeshire since 2012, was elected to South Cambridgeshire District Council in 2018, and has had a career as a mediator with national governments and the UN working on environmental challenges.

South Cambridgeshire had a turnout of 71%, which was down about 8.60% from 2019.

South Cambridgeshire result:

Liberal Democrat MP Ian Sollom won the new St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire seat.

Mr Sollom has lived in Cambridgeshire since 2005, has a PhD in astrophysics and was a district councillor in South Cambridgeshire from 2018 until 2022.

St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire had a turnout of 68%.
