Two 14-year-old boys have been arrested after another 14-year-old was stabbed on a playing field in Peterborough.

Officers were called to Bushfield, in Orton Goldhay, at about 16:00 BST on Monday. The victim was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious injuries, which police said were not believed to be life-threatening.

A 14-year-old boy from Peterborough was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH), possession of a knife and theft. He remained in police custody.

A second 14-year-old boy, also from the city, was arrested on suspicion of GBH and assisting an offender. He has been bailed until 14 December.

Cambridgeshire Police said there would be an increased police presence in the area on Tuesday.
