A pair of Lincolnshire towns are to host a family festival featuring performances and interactive workshops.

GO Festival kicks off in Market Rasen on the evening of Friday, 5 June, before moving to Gainsborough for a full day of events on the Saturday.

One of the highlights confirmed for both towns is The Birdcage Stage, which will headline the festival with its show Cartoon Capers.

West Lindsey District Council, which is funding the event, said the full programmes for both towns would be announced soon.

Inspired by cartoons such as Tom and Jerry and Tweetie Pie, Cartoon Capers will feature an aerial circus, comedy and theatre.

At the Gainsborough event, there will be a Birdy Disco on The Birdcage Stage from 15:30 BST, in which children, accompanied by an adult, can dance with the characters inside the cage.

Gainsborough attendees will also be able to make their own bird head-dresses at the drop-in craft sessions.

The Market Rasen event will run from 16:00 BST until 20:00 BST while the Gainsborough event will start at 10:00 BST and finish at 16:00 BST.
