'Nuisance' illegal e-bikes seized in town centre

Police have seized nine illegal e-bikes and three e-scooters in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

Anti-social riders were pursued by officers, who issued 10 traffic tickets, in the bid to "help make Leamington a safer place", Warwickshire Police said.

The operation comes after concerns from residents about "nuisance motorcycles, e-bikes, and scooters", as well as "the way some delivery riders use roads and public spaces".

The force added its day of action last Saturday formed "part of our ongoing commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour, improving road safety, and keeping our communities safe".

Police worked in partnership with Warwick District Council's Community Safety Team and Leamington Spa Safer Neighbourhood Team to carry out the day of action in The Parade.

The force also received support from specialist police departments, CCTV operators, Control Room staff, and Corporate Communications colleagues.

Throughout the day, officers removed vehicles being used unlawfully from streets and engaged with riders, offering advice and education about riding safely.

The force says it "understands the frustration" this causes for residents, businesses, and visitors, and urges the public to continue reporting problems to them.
