Major search under way for missing river swimmer

Police and fire search teams are continuing to search a Lancashire river after a swimmer went missing.

The man disappeared from the River Ribble by Ribchester Road in Dinckley near Ribchester at about 13:00 GMT on Sunday, Lancashire Police said.

Four swift water rescue units, two underwater sleds, and a boat with an underwater drone have all been used in the search which continued overnight.

The public are being asked to avoid the area, which has been cordoned off.
