The motorcyclist who died in a crash in Bridport has been named as Blayze Martin

The family of a teenage motorcyclist who died in a crash have paid tribute to him.

The rider of the motorbike – 17-year-old boy Blayze Martin from Piddlehinton – sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he died on Thursday afternoon.

In a statement, his family said: "Blayze was a beloved son to Hayley and Paul, stepson to Michael, brother to four younger siblings – two sisters and two brothers – boyfriend to Brooke and he was also a grandson and nephew."

They continued: "He was a keen motorcyclist and had loved motorbikes since the age of two.

"He had a large group of friends.

"Blayze was able to donate his organs to help up to five other people live."

Dorset Police said his family will be announcing funeral details in due course, they include plans for a motorcycle escort for Blayze.

The force said the driver of the car involved in the collision – a man aged in his 30s from west Dorset – was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and subsequently taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious.

He has been released under investigation as inquiries continue, the force added.
