Major A road closed after serious collision

Part of the A417 in Gloucestershire has closed in both directions following a serious collision.

Gloucestershire Police were called to the single vehicle collision outside the Red Lion pub in Ampney St Peter at about 18:55 BST. Emergency services remain at the scene and those involved in the collision are being treated for suspected serious injuries, police said.

The force added that the closure on the A417 between Ampney St Peter and Poulton was likely to be in place for "a number of hours" and motorists were asked to avoid the area.

Anybody who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police.
