Chance to test-drive electric cars at free event
Hull City CouncilPeople will be able to test-drive electric cars at a free event in Hull.
Called Let's Go Electric, the event at Priory Way Park & Ride on 20 June will offer demonstrations of a more than a dozen brands of cars, along with e-bikes and electric buses.
It is hoped visitors will learn about the benefits of electric vehicles and sustainable transport, according to organisers Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, of the city council, said: "Whether you're curious about running costs, charging, or simply want to see what's out there, it's a chance to explore the latest technology in one place and speak directly with experts."
Ieronimo described transport as a "major contributor to carbon emissions" and said EVs were one way to "improve air quality and support a healthier city".
He added: "But we also know that people's circumstances vary – and for many residents, the most important thing is understanding what options are available and what genuinely works for them."
The event will include charging demonstrations, taster electric bus journeys and information about council transport projects.
It will run from 10:00 to 15:00 BST and those who want to test drive vehicles can register on the day, with details of required documentation available on the Travel Hull website.
