A 12-year-old boy has died days after falling from the roof of a barn.

Durham Police said Jaxon Robert Hubery was seriously injured when he fell from the building at Woodhouses, near Bishop Auckland, on 24 July shortly before 14:45 BST.

It said Jaxon was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment but died on Tuesday.

The force said it was working with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to establish the circumstances of the fall.

His family had thanked those who had given them love and support over the last few days, police said.

They urged other parents to keep their children away from the area.
