Police officer struck by own car after stopping to help at breakdown

A police officer and another man were struck by a stationary police car which was hit by another vehicle at the side of a motorway slip road.

The male police officer had stopped to help the driver of a broken-down Ford Kuga on the slip road at junction 27 (Paisley) of the M8 westbound.

Both men were taken to hospital following the incident, which happened at about 19:40 on Saturday.

Police said inquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
