Signed Oasis 'Wonderwall' guitar up for auction

The guitar was used by Noel Gallagher during their second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory

A signed guitar played by Noel Gallagher on hit tracks Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova is going up for auction.

The Epiphone EJ-200 was used by Gallagher whilst the Manchester band recorded their second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory.

The album, released in 1995 during the height of Britpop, has long been hailed as era-defining, and also included songs Don't Look Back in Anger and Some Might Say.

The guitar is estimated to sell for £59,500 ($80,000) when it goes under the hammer at Sotheby's in New York.

Meanwhile, a handwritten lyric sheet for the band's Don't Look Back in Anger is predicted to sell for £29,750 ($40,000) at the auction.

Several items owned and played on by American rock legend Elvis Presley are also up for sale, including a small zip-up bible, adorned with a picture of him and his mother, Gladys, who died in 1958 from a heart attack.

A red electric guitar of Presley's, on which he played Blue Suede Shoes and was first used on his 1968 television "Comeback Special", could fetch up to £1.4m ($2m), the auction house said.

Other items linked to music legends include Bruce Springsteen's acoustic guitar which he used to write Born to Run, David Bowie's handwritten lyrics for The Jean Genie and a rare piece of Keith Moon's iconic Pictures of Lily drum kit.
