Major road to shut in the evening for three weeks
LDRSOne of the main roads through a town centre will be closed in the evenings for nearly three weeks to allow for resurfacing work.
The A358 in Chard will be closed between between 18:30 to 23:00 BST from 17 April to 5 May so it can be repaired and fully resurfaced.
Somerset Council will be resurfacing a section of the A358 from the junction with Chardstock Lane to just outside Chard Leisure Centre - with a signed diversion via Tatworth and Cricket St Thomas.
The road will be open as normal during the day and at weekends and also over the May Day bank holiday. Somerset Council has apologised for the disruption.
A Somerset Council spokesperson said: "If you live or have a business in the immediate area of the roadworks, we will ensure access is maintained.
"We do our utmost to minimise disruption where possible."
The A30 Crewkerne Road has further roadworks planned in early June as part of the council's surface dressing programme – with similar work being carried on the A30 St. Rayn's Hill near Crewkerne during the same period.
Residents in Chard set up a petition last year about separate roadworks on the A358 Furnham Road.
