Three seriously hurt in pedestrian zone car crash
GoogleA man involved in a car crash in a pedestrianised zone has been left with "potentially life-changing injuries", police have said.
Officers said two other men were also seriously hurt after a silver Vauxhall Astra hit a large wooden planter in Luton town centre early on Saturday.
Sgt Dan Cook described the incident as "dreadful" and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Police said a 19-year-old man had appeared in court after being charged with "several driving offences".
The crash occurred shortly after 01:45 BST on Manchester Street, according to police.
Officers said the three injured men were all pedestrians.
Footage circulating on social media showed a car appearing to hit a planter before people rushed over to help.

Sgt Cook, a member of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire road policing unit, added: "This was a dreadful incident which has left one man with potentially life-changing injuries and two others seriously injured.
"We are appealing to anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist our investigation to come forward."
