Five carrier bags of suspected cocaine found in van
Merseyside PoliceA 40-year-old man has been arrested after an estimated 38kg (83 lb) of suspected cocaine was found in carrier bags in a van.
Merseyside Police said officers stopped and searched a grey Volkswagen van at noon on Bridge Road, Roby, and found five large shopping bags filled with blocks of white powder in the rear of the vehicle, believed to be cocaine.
A man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled Class A drug, cocaine, concerned in the supply of a Class A drug, cocaine and acquire use/possess criminal property.
Det Ch Insp Gary Stratton said: "The van contained a significant amount of hard Class A drugs which we have intercepted and removed from our streets."
He added: "Drug dealing is hugely damaging to our communities, and this is part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets.
"I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken."
