A man suffered serious injuries after he was stabbed in a Grimsby street, Humberside Police said.

Officers were called to a property on Weelsby Street at about 13:35 BST on Friday.

A 35-year-old man found outside was taken to hospital with "serious injuries that are not considered to be life changing at this time," a force spokesperson said.

No arrests have been made and Det Insp Steve Antrobus said although the investigation was in its earlier stages, "we do believe those involved to be known to each other".

"Understandably, given the nature of this incident, it will be concerning to the local community, and locals to the area can expect to see an increased policing presence," Antrobus said.

"A cordon is currently in place between Wigmore Court on Weelsby Street and Grimsby Road at the junction of Hamilton Street to allow our Crime Scene Investigation team to work safely.

"I would encourage anyone with information, or anyone with concerns, to please come and speak to us."

He appealed for any CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident.
