The original Bergerac show was a BBC series, and the reboot's first series will now be brought to BBC

The rebooted first series of Bergerac will be available on the BBC this summer, alongside the original, BBC Drama has confirmed.

The remake of the original BBC show Bergerac, which was set in Jersey and ran for nine series between 1981 and 1991, was made by UKTV last year with Damien Molony taking on the lead role.

Series two was released in April and at the premiere Molony said although he was the main character, the scenes of Jersey were a strong focus throughout.

The popular TV policeman appeared on the One Show on Tuesday, where host Alex Jones announced the series would be shown on the BBC, to which Molony said he was "thrilled" about and that it was "wonderful news".

BBC Drama said the first and second series were currently streaming on U&Drama and that series one would be "available on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two this summer".
