The 17-year-old boy suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition, Staffordshire Police said.

A 17-year-old, charged with assisting an offender in connection with the same incident, also appeared in court and was released on conditional bail.

Both, from Burton-upon-Trent, are next due to appear at Stafford Crown Court on Friday 13 November.
