Crews have extinguished a house fire that started in the early hours of Monday morning, with one person needing to be checked over by paramedics.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Kilndown Close in Allington, Maidstone, just before 02:00 BST.

It sent six fire engines and a height vehicle to the scene.

People were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke coming from the incident, but this is no longer in force.

The service added that an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Members of its Volunteer Response Team are in attendance to offer advice and support to affected residents.
